BEYOND EXCITED!

ree

Hello everyone

Hutch here again to tell you some news!  We are all beyond excited – in fact we are just stamping our hooves, paws, trotters and claws in anticipation.  Why? You may ask.  Well, it’s that time of year again, I’ve heard some talk by the volunteers, and George who sits in the tea room listening to all the gossip has confirmed it, that very soon, it’s our annual open weekend – YEAY!

Well, the first thing that happens is that Chocky runs round all the volunteers braying for England and saying ‘groom me, groom me’ I have to look my best for when everyone arrives.

We can’t wait to see all the gazebo’s go up (I think that’s what they are called – big square things with a roof). They are held down by lots of strong pegs - in case we rub against them and try to knock them over (I love that game).  I think I might organise a competition to see who is first to push one over.  The volunteers won’t be best pleased, but we enjoy the fun though.

Of course, Hammy, Peggy and Bart are wondering what all the excitement is about they are quite new to the sanctuary, but we’ve told them what a super time we have with all the people visiting, they stroke us and tell us how lovely we are!  They make funny ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah’ sounds.

Bart wanted to know if lots of water will be involved, he just loves playing with water and hosepipes and Peggy asked if she would have extra food as it is a special two days – honestly, youngsters these days!!

There is always lots going on in the next field to us and we can peer over the fence to see if there is anything that we fancy and then we can make a lot of noise to get everyone’s attention – Louise is very good at braying loudly and joining in with the music as well.  We do so enjoy having all the people visit us.

Oh, and we’ve got the lovely Reverend Judith coming to see us on the Sunday – we just can’t wait.

Mork the duck told me that they are going to have a tea party on both afternoons that will be very messy but will be lots of fun for the little humans to watch.

The man that does our pedicures, Richard (I think he’s called a faraway or farrier,  yes that’s it) is going to do a demonstration on a visiting pony, and our nice vet Alastair will be giving a little talk about Peggy the pig and Paddy and Patch the two goats.

Oh, it’s going to be such fun.  Lots to do, lots to see, lots to eat and drink and lots to buy and the little ones have their own play corner, with pin a tail on the donkey – I didn’t fancy that at first, because I’ve already got a tail and I’m rather attached to it, but then George told me it wasn’t a real donkey, so that’s alright.  They can even groom some of us – Hammy, Jill and Buddy are really looking forward to that (it also means they get extra hay to eat).

Please do come and see all of us animals on our open weekend.  It’s going to be a bundle of fun, food and music.  We very much look forward to welcoming you and seeing all the big and little humans enjoying themselves.

See you there.

Love and brays as always

from Hutch (oh and Chocky says love and brays from her as well – she just won’t be left out!) xx
