Without our wonderful team of volunteers, our charity couldn't do what we do. They are integral to the care and wellbeing of all the animals at the sanctuary. We'd love for you to join them.

The ABC Animal Sanctuary wholeheartedly supports the principle of equal opportunities and opposes all forms of unfair discrimination.

We are looking for people to help with morning and evening opening and closing.

What's involved?

Tasks vary but could include:

  • Feeding

  • Cleaning the animal quarters and fields

  • Grooming, love and attention

  • Helping at fund-raising events

  • Various maintenance tasks if you're handy with a hammer

You will be working as a member of a team that will give you all the help and support you need and you will very quickly become part of the volunteer “family”.

What do you get out of it?

  • Volunteering is rewarding

  • You will be making a difference

  • Meeting new people and making friends

  • You have fun and might even learn some new skills

What we ask of you?

We ask that our volunteers provide a commitment to work a 3 hour shift.  Further discussion regarding the day that you wish to work and your availability can be discussed at your induction.

Volunteer Eligibility:

Volunteers must be aged 16 or over, we may ask you for parental  / guardian consent if you are under 18.

The sanctuary is proud to support young people engaged on the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, and will accept applications from young people aged 14 and over, where appropriate supporting documentation has been provided.

We do limit spaces for the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze & Silver Awards and if you are under 16 the volunteer day will be Saturday only.

Safeguarding:

At the sanctuary we recognise the need to keep all young people safe and to protect them against any form of abuse.

Our safeguarding policy & procedures can be viewed below, together with our other policies relevant to being a volunteer.
