We are very pleased to be able to announce that Charlie was treated by the top Orthopaedic Surgeon and his veterinary students at the Royal Veterinary hospital, North London on the 16th February and while his leg can never be perfect it is now very much better and he is a great deal happier. Charlie is now safely back at the Sanctuary recovering from his ordeal. We would very much like to thank all those who were kind enough to donate to the cost of his treatment, particularly Sian Walters who established a charity page for Charlie and then 'encouraged' her colleagues from HSBC Bank to contribute, and also to the Charity Dept. of the HSBC bank itself, for their generous cheque and support. We are pleased to say that the total donations were sufficient not only to cover the extensive X-rays and his aftercare costs, vet visits, transportation, etc, but have given us a small sum of money left over which we will put towards the medical requirements and support of some of the other equines we have in our care.
