Ant and Dec, our two pot-bellied pigs, were bought as pets for two young boys but sadly ended up neglected, unloved, and living in squalid conditions in Exeter. We were asked to take them in by the RSPCA in February 2009 and as soon as they arrived at the Sanctuary they realised they had come to piggy heaven! They now live in their own fenced-in area and in the day are allowed to roam through the orchard as did their predecessors - Hazel and Acorn - who lived to the ripe old age of 18 and 19 respectively (the vets said they had never seen such old pigs!). Pigs have the same temperature as humans, and in cold weather Ant and Dec are to be found snuggled up together in the deep straw in their house. In the Summer they stay cool by wallowing in their muddy pool.
