George will be operated on next week (March 05, 2010)
We have just rescued George a one and a half year old Welsh A pony of 12 hands. He was sold as a gelding but recently showed an unexpected interest in mares. Upon examination one testicle appeared but there was no sign of the second. The owner was in despair as she could not afford the potentially tricky and expensive operation to geld him so his future was not looking good. The ABC Sanctuary offered to take him on and he will have the operation next Wednesday. He is an exceptionally pretty roan grey pony with white socks and a white blaze on his forehead that will make a perfect child's pony. However he has not been handled enough so there will be work to be done on him first but other than being youthfully naughty he has a sweet nature and being so young will learn quickly. We will let him go on permanent loan so that he will be returned to us if there is a problem.
Meanwhile fingers crossed that everything goes well on Wednesday. The operation will be anything from £300 to £1000 depending on how difficult it is. If you can help us with a donation towards George's op we will be most grateful.He was so young it was impossible to turn him away and with luck he could have a rosette winning future .
