Matty is still here. (August 25, 2009)
Little Matty. When she arrived back from the vet I wasn't sure at all that she was going to survive or indeed that it was fair to keep her going when she was so unhappy. She is now loose in my bathroom as there are no hazardous objects there for a blind cat to negotiate as she was very restless in the large cage. She is eating- from my hand (and takes ages to do so) and I give her water from a pipette- otherwise she steps in the food and the water and sends it all flying and steps through the cat litter to go elsewhere so as you can see it is quite a struggle.
However I don't give up easily and there is a fractional improvement each day. Today she actually peed in the cat litter and I found her tucking into some Hills ID dried food when I came in. However she is getting a liquid b complex and a liquid zinc together with Arnica 30 three times a day which Francis Hunter the eminent homeopathic vet has advised for 2 weeks. He said it may help disperse the blood clot which caused the problem under the anaesthetic. I so long for her to get back some sight as she has the prettiest big blue eyes of any cat I have ever seen and is a 4 year old bundle of gorgeous grey curly fluff (she is a Selkirk Rex). Meanwhile she is being thoroughly spoilt with special tuna, chicken, turkey etc. all minced up in a child's mincer which I usually use for poorly kittens so fingers crossed we are certainly doing all we can for the moment.
