A disabled peacock arrives (July 31, 2009)
We have just taken in a young peacock with a permanent disability who is very beautiful but cannot walk very well. He needed to be in a protected environment away from others who would have pecked him. We will have to buy or indeed find a mirror as peacocks do rather enjoy admiring their reflection in the glass. So far so good and he seems to be settling in with the rest of the birds without any altercations.
Dyke Farm where he came from said they used to leave their peacocks loose to fly around until one became obsessed with his reflection in the hub caps of cars and started to chase them in to the road. Since then they have been confined to a large netted in area with their other birds! Click here to return to the News page
